Where it all began
I grew up in the UK, and baking has always been something I've loved. But over the last few years, my kitchen has found itself increasingly influenced by somewhere a little further away.
My partner is Egyptian, and through him and his family, I've fallen in love with the flavours, food and culture of Egypt.
I've been lucky enough to spend a lot of time there, discovering new ingredients, trying traditional sweets and making some of my favourite memories along the way.
Studio Noah grew from a simple idea: what if I could bring those flavours into the things I've always loved to bake?
More than just dessert
Some of my favourite memories of Cairo have nothing to do with dessert at all.
They're of sitting outside a café at two in the morning, drinking mint tea with my partner and his family.
Of discovering the incredible mangoes and guavas, and the little flavours and experiences that stay with you long after you've come home.
That's what I want to capture through my baking.
Sometimes it's a new interpretation of a traditional sweet. Other times, it's simply taking a flavour that reminds me of Egypt and finding a place for it in something familiar.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Finding the balance
As much as I love Middle Eastern sweets, I've often found them a little too sweet for my taste.
And when there are so many beautiful flavours to enjoy, I don't want the sugar to be the only thing you notice.
So that's the balance I'm always looking for at Studio Noah: bakes that feel indulgent, but where the ingredients and flavours have room to shine.
It's not about recreating traditional recipes exactly. It's about taking inspiration from them, combining them with the baking I grew up loving, and creating something that feels like a little bit of both worlds.
THE NAME BEHIND THE STUDIO
Why Noah?
Noah (نوح) is my son's name. We chose it because it's a name that belongs beautifully in both English and Arabic — a little piece of both our cultures, brought together in one name.
In many ways, that's exactly what I'm trying to do with my baking. Bringing together the things I grew up loving with the flavours and traditions I've discovered through my Egyptian family, creating something that feels at home in both worlds.
So when it came to naming the bakery, Studio Noah felt like the most natural choice.
Two cultures. One little name.
